Meet Sheetal Dugar, mother of three and the very first Indian woman to buy and race a Lamborghini Huracan. She is will be driving during Club GT’s-the Sunday morning supercar race-offs in Kolkata on the NH2. Winning these races has made Sheetal quite a sensation. “They made me cut the cake on Club GT’s anniversary party,” Sheetal told India Today.
Sheetal was not good at driving. She didn’t know how to drive until she was married to industrialist Vinod Dugar when she was 19.
Her eldest daughter, Yashaswi Dugar, 18, added, “She always wins the races. But there are many other women and wives of competitors, who come to the event, but no one participates. Some of the other gentlemen promise to beat her at the next race, but she’s the fastest.”
“I learnt it just because I thought it was a valuable life skill to have. I didn’t like being dependent on drivers,” Sheetal said. “It came easily to her. She made it look so effortless. We thought it must be quite easy until we saw another lady turn turtle trying to drive one,” said Yashaswi.
When Sheetal drives this golden supercar with a 5.2L V10 engine, she says it feels like flying. “It’s not about speed or rash driving for me. It’s just about living life to the fullest,” stated Sheetal.
This model with the shade of gold is called as Oro Elios by the Lamborghini and will cost you Rs 3.32 crore ($500k USD) and can sprint to 100 kmph from standstill in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 325 kmph.
