About a year ago, an american couple bought a 2006 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and named her Rosie to convert into a stealth camper. This year, they traveled all over North America. They met a lot of people who were very interested in this awesome camper, so they share it on Reddit.
It took about three months to complete the build, and it was a lot of fun turning it to an awesome camper.
Here is what they list main goal of the build :
- Stealth! Just in case we needed to sleep sneaky
- Off grid! We want to be able “satellite,” or dispersed camp on National Forest and BLM lands with ease. No hookups, no need to find an RV park every night, just freedom
- Gear storage! We fit a full ensemble of bicycle touring gear, climbing gear AND backpacking gear into her, and still have living space
- Luxury! We can’t really call ourselves ‘dirtbags’ since we have a fancy stove, fridge and home office…
First, they gutted the thing.
Next, they put in some hardwood floors for comfort.
They added a bench and some cabinet space for storage.
A stovetop was added to the “kitchen.”
The bed folds up and down on hinges so it can easily be stashed away during the day.
When the sun was down, they installed solar panels on the roof so they could easily generate power.
Next, they put in a fridge.
Running water is crucial.
More cabinet space for clothing and other essentials was added.
And there you have it, folks!
