The Delicate art of Painting on Feathers by Jamie Homeister

“I’m based in Indiana, but my work is influenced most by my Canadian heritage, and much of my featherwork gives a hard nod to the Native American culture. I do much of it by commission – many of my parrot-feather paintings depict the parrots from whom the feathers themselves fell.”

With such a delicate canvas to work with, Jamie must slowly and carefully paint each feather layer by layer until just the right shading and portrait have been completed. But there is not a more perfect way to depict the animals which embody freedom and the wild spirit so well.
