Meditation is getting increasingly popular in the world along with Yoga. It is infact a part of the eightfold Ashtanga Yoga, called Dhyaan. Dhyaan or Meditation is the process of aligning our various levels of being by practicing the art of looking within by being still and giving up all effort and control. Meditation is being a witness and connecting with the pure blissful consciousness which is within us.
Practicing meditation also has many benefits such as Increased focus, reduced stress and becoming mindful and centred. It also relieves anxiety and depression, improves immunity and self- awareness. Meditation also is good for emotional well being, besides improving memory and getting a better Sleep.
“With every breath, the old moment is lost; a new moment arrives. We exhale and we let go of the old moment. It is lost to us. In doing so, we let go of the person we used to be. We inhale and breathe in the moment that is becoming. In doing so, we welcome the person we are becoming. We repeat the process. This is meditation. This is renewal. This is life.” – Lama Surya Das

Practicing meditation relieves one from the burden of emotional baggage, which is dissolved as one becomes aware of the mental knots and tensions. It is a holistic experience which connects one to the divinity within. One is freed of the burden of the past and anxieties of the future, and is truly present in the moment. One is able to cultivate a sense of detachment by letting go of all doer-ship.
“Touch your inner space, which is nothingness, as silent and empty as the sky; it is your inner sky. Once you settle down in your inner sky, you have come home, and a great maturity arises in your actions, in your behaviour. Then whatever you do has grace in it. Then whatever you do is poetry in itself. You live poetry; your walking becomes dancing, your silence becomes music.” – Osho
Meditation opens the door to a higher state of being, a higher consciousness where one lives in harmony with nature and is blissful and content from within. It is shifting one’s consciousness from a state of ‘doing’ to a state of ‘being’. It enables the human possibility to fully blossom.
