Hugh’s ring says – ‘Om paramar mainamar’ which means ‘We dedicate our union to a greater source’. Born a Christian, Hugh is attracted to mysticism and is now deeply soaked in Hinduism. He is also inspired by Shankaracharya. In an interview he says – “I used to question so much. I was brought up in a church and I fried my brains questioning, it felt quite limited – and as soon as I discovered more about Vedic ideas, philosophies and concepts, it felt right to me, it just felt natural.” Hugh has been practicing Transcendental Meditation for 30 years, and also practices Yoga. “Meditation has changed my life” – he says.

“In meditation, I can let go of everything. I’m not Hugh Jackman. I’m not a dad. I’m not a husband. I’m just dipping into that powerful source that creates everything. I take a little bath in it.”

Hugh is fascinated by the Vedic literature and traditions. He is also inspired by Maharshi Mahesh Yogi and the Transcendental Meditation technique. The Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita align with his “sensibilities”, he says. Hugh holds the record for playing the same superhero most times in a live-action film franchise (X-Men series).
